Nisht altz darf menn mefarsem zein

Submitted.
Recently there were stories pertaining to the Orthodox community in general in some cases Lakewood in particular that were posted on various websites and blogs. Its either a story of interest or a click bate headline to get hits and increase traffic to the website. We have plenty of haters out there both within and from outside who are looking for any way to paint us in a bad light. They lurk online and jump on the opportunity to cross post and share what they perceive to be a news worthy story that either raitzes uhn our neighbors or defames orthodox Jews. Dont be fooled if its on the internet it will be picked up and shared. A simple sign about a shabbos of chizuk gets the facebookers excited. A recent news item about a store changing return policy rules for certain zip codes went viral and the haters had a field day. A jersey radio station had a segment on it and it was disgusting to hear the vile anti Semitic drivel. Some things are beyond our control but why do we have to take everything and share it with the world to see? why help fuel the fire of hatred?

  1. so we us yidden can learn from our mistakes & prevent it from happening again. versus if you would not post it on the jewish news thousands of yidden would not know about it & theres a good chance it can C"V happen again due to nobody hearing about it from the first original time (corruption charges, schools will keep not accepting for their own kavod until you post their school name l'toeles then they will get scared & start to do teshuva by becoming honest etc... many other examples. too many to list)

  2. higher density coming to Westgate?
zoning board hearing tomorrow for Westgate builder to subdivide some lots on New Central. Let's see if the Zoning Board will finally say "AD KAAN". It should have never been the way it is, let alone making it worse. Maybe the builder should be forced to build or provide some more above ground shuls before being heard.
township website had the wrong lot and block posted....wonder if that was an oversight...
    follow the smell...it stinks

    2. I'm following the smell and I noticed so much more garbage along the way. What about Menashe's unprecedented vote to quietly get rid of the Rent Control Board so that builders and landlords like Westgate will be able to continue getting away with even more ways to exploit their tenants?!! Talk about a stink!

Don't forget that our "Mayor" already scheduled the second & final reading for this Thursday, the 15th. Let's all be there to tell him that he better not there continue tampering with our basic rights. He should find himself another way to make money.. and to make sure that it is actually legal!

    1. Why is it narrishkeit that menashe miller is trying very hard to sneak in the aboloshing of thr rent control board. Are you one of his agents that also wants to jeep this huge political story quiet??

How dare he have the chutzpah to steal basic legal protections from the tzibbur of bnei torah and other folks which cannot afford to buy, and have no option but to be renters! Just because he owns a very nice house should never allow him the ability to dismantle the Board and leave the town's poor tenants vulnerable and exposed.

  4. It is a two edged sword. We need to share the bias against our community, but there are haters who will twist it for their agenda. I have to believe that knowledge is power and sharing is better than hiding. We must be bold.

  5. Anti semites will always have fodder against Jews. They find out things whether we discuss them Online or not. A recent video that discussed housing options for Jewish families at the agudah convention went viral in the hands of a virulent anti Semitic local journalist. It was not discussed anywhere on Jewish blogs or Twitter. The journalist twisted the video into a lie about a Jewish blockbusting invasion, almost causing a federal probe. Local blogs and social media helped quell the outrage. It is important for true media, blogs and social commentators to discuss the corruption that is Damaging Lakewood. They need to know that we are not all agreeable, or complicit in what is happening. We as a community did not cause the problems that plague us. They must also see that the corruption is not a Jewish or gentile issue. It is human nature that there will always be people that try to take advantage of others. Our Jewish leaders need to work with many non Jewish leaders to continue their corrupt ways. Just like with child molesters, when they are protected and are revealed it causes a bigger Chillul Hashem then if they were originally reported to police, so too does being quiet about "unzere" that are causing irreparable damage to our town and our image among the people of New Jersey. We are not causing the Chillul Hashem by discussing our problems. I don't think I need to explain further.
