Lakewood school busing day 1

B''H all kids made it safely to school on their first day back
-Traffic- took close to an hour for carpooling parents
-Bnos Melech did not have school today they have no busing
-Bais sheindel did not have school no busing
-Small mosdos combining routes to compete with big mosdos who got first dibs on bids
-Parents now driving kids to bus stops, just wait for the cold weather
-Bus stops have hundreds of kids waiting at street corners
-buses ran late, confusion at bus stops as buses were not marked for which school
-over all for first day not bad :)

  1. Kvetch, kvetch, kvetch kvetch. This is a huge operation that has just gotten started. Instead of thanking those that have been putting in hours and hours to get this rolling and understanding that this will come with many issues as it gets underway, let's just kvetch and kvetch some more. When will you realize that your kvetching doesn't get you anywhere? The system isn't perfect but no matter how it was done or implemented, the complainers will never disappoint in their constant kvetching.

    1. For the past 10 years all the Rosh Mosdes ever did was kvetch when it came to either busing or special services. No excuse was ever satisfactory to them regardless of the circumstances. It was always the fault of the BOE or whomever they can lay blame on. Now that it is clear that any screw up would now directly point to them, you as their mouthpiece or puppet are asking that we thank them!!??

  2. Talk about seeing the cup half empty. Most ppl i spoke to said their buses came on time,Its the first day there will obviously be glitches!
My kids don't have busing yet But I realize it takes time to set something like this up. Why would you be negative do you have a better solution?

  3. Please be smart and dont pay a penny towards transportation. If your school forces you to pay then when they call you to place a dinner ad tell them they can use the money you sent for the bussing

    1. your an idiot, your only required to pay if your courtesy busing, which means that if not for this new organization you would not have any busing as it was voted down last year by 99% of the population, so your getting busing at a ridiculously cheap rate of $150 and your kvetching about not giving money to your kids school (which i'm sure fund raises plenty to cover the cost of educating YOUR child b/c your 4k in tuition isn't covering it) what is wrong with you? 2. What did the Rosh mosdos do wrong??
Why does everyone always slam the rosh mosdos when things happen beyond thier control??
Whats worse, why does everyone speak so nicely to them in front of them but behind their backs they are the talk of the town, with such venom. you would think their in it to hurt people!!!

    3. to anon 10:58 if it was voted down why is the township paying for courtesy busing for the public school kids? they somehow found money from tax dollars to pay for it. Let them pay the same amount for the private school kids.

  4. You are all hypocrites. When the BOX ran it everyone complained and schools told everyone to call and kvetch. Now that the consortium is in control by mosdos you are all heaping praise when half the schools don't even have busing.

    1. Yes I will kvetch, as a parent of m mandated busing I'm car pooling some of my my children. Never had issues like this when the district ran it. Now the bus stop is a 7 minute walk and for younger parents with babies it's very hard.

    2. Krawiec is doing a wonderful job with the resources he has on hand. A few weeks and we won't talk about bussing until next year.

    3. Yup when the boe ran it was amazing sure. I just spoke to some of my employees whose children are part of the current boe system and the didn't have busing today with more time more staff and a bigger budget (percentage wise)
So the boe couldn't get <7000 kids to school today but you think wouldve been able to 30k

    4. "Krawiec is doing a wonderful job with the resources he has on hand" as opposed to who?? You are obviously using someone else as your barometer when scoring his performance.

  5. When I was a kid in Brooklyn one big Bais Yakov had a bus stop on my corner where they filled an entire bus. No one lives more than 2 minutes walk away. In Lakewood they seem to be trying the same thing but they're making people walk 10 minutes to the bus and then they have to sit on the bus for 45 minutes to an hour. This is a mess.

  6. I am not a fan of the establishment by any means and I personally hold that the bill just encourages more bad planning on the twnshps behalf to many unknowns ect... I also sat in traffice for over an he this morning dropping off all my kids at school. However to criticize the actual performance of the busing after one day is a bit much. Give them at least a week or two to figure things out if there are still problems then you have a right to complain about their performance. Till then give them a little bit of space everyone just sounds like a bunch of complainers.

    1. People live day by day and are stating the facts of what went on today. If within a few weeks it all clears up than you tip your cap and move on. Did you say the same thing previously when the complaints were lodged against the BOE?

    2. The BOE has had 10 yrs to get their act together not less then one month.

    3. The town has grown and continues to grow every year by 7-12% and so do the busing needs. So with the growing population each year, the BOE transportation department continued to face new challenges such as the need more more bus routes, new streets to navigate, tight developments, major increase in traffic year over year, loss of contractors, a freeze in student transportation aid, etc.. all which is beyond their control. Lakewood today is not the same Lakewood of 10 years ago, so to say that the Lakewood BOE had 10 years to gwt their act together is a very narrow minded statement.

  7. Is it just in Westgate that all the stops are along the Main Street or do other places have this too?
