Agudah letter thanking for helping with Lakewood busing.

Leter was written 4 weeks ago before the busing fiasco was apparent. lets hope in the end it will all work itself out.

Dear Friends,
Yeyasher kochachem, congratulations, thank you!

As you probably know, the yeshiva community in Lakewood was
facing a major crisis just a few months ago. Government officials declared that there was no money in the budget to continue school bus transportation for many yeshiva children as they had been receiving for many years.

Had this decision gone into effect, it would have wreaked havoc throughout the entire community - not only with the schedules of thousands of children and their parents, not only with the sidrei halimud in our yeshivos and Bais Yaakovs, but with commuters and pedestrians throughout the city whose already overcrowded streets would have become even more congested with all the extra traffic generated by the loss of school busing.

Stated simply, this was a disaster waiting to explode.

But then Rabbi Avi Schnall, Agudath Israel's New Jersey director, together with a group of public officials and dedicated community askonim, swung into action. Their advocacy efforts resulted in significant new state funding to restore transportation benefits for Lakewood yeshiva students.

So as we start the new school year, with thousands upon thousands of precious yiddishe kinderlech boarding buses on their way to learn the Eibishter's heilige Torah, please know that you have a major portion in this massive display of Kiddush Hashem.

It is your support of Agudath Israel that fights for our community's rights in Lakewood - and we recognize that we could never have done it without you.

Indeed, you empower Agudath Israel to carry out its historic mission wherever the Torah community may be.

So yeyasher kochachem - and may we have the zchus to continue working together for the benefit of Klal Yisroel and for k'vod Shamayim, for many gezunte productive years to come.

                                                                     B'yedidus,

Chaim Dovid Zwiebel
