BOE votes down Lakewood school district budget, state monitor overules

At the Lakewood BOE meeting last night the board voted down the proposed budget for 2016-2017 but the state monitor overruled the boards decision once again.

  2. Its not possible not yo,have a monitor. We cant evrrvhave enough money because the funding formula doednt work for our town. The law is that if the district is in s deficit, it gets a monitor. We will alwsys be in a deficit unless the formula gets changed.

    1. Not always. School (Property) taxes can go up to eliminate the deficit. It is not popular, but it is better than asking for special treatment, and we would have the pride of being self sustaining.
