The speech reaches over 100k views

The Rechnitz speech has hit the 100k views mark on YouTube. The speech continues to make waves and is not going away, sparking debate about the issue of school acceptance. Some felt it gave a voice to those who have none while many were upset at the content and what was said specifically about  yeshivaleit. This article appeared in the left wing Israeli Haaretz newspaper, What I learnt from a speech in Lakewood NJ. The speech was followed up by clarifications, apologies,  Roshei yeshiva spoke out publicly against the degrading of  kolell youngeleit and the bad portrayal of Lakewood as a result. Experts involved with school placements said its really is a numbers issue due to Lakewood's growth. Now that parents are waiting to hear back from schools who they applied for, lets see if the speech has had a impact in a good way.

  1. You phrased your question wrong. The real question is whether parents applied to more newer smaller schools , not if parents will hear from the schools they applied to. You can ask the people involved with school placement. Even though there is a huge shortage, if every non sibling parent was willing to go to every newer school, then there would not be a problem. Rechnitz actually makes the problem worse. Almost all the parents that call him for help ,really could go to some school or schools but they dont want to. By not finding out the truth and giving money to schools to get them in,he is encouraging this bad behavior.

Stop hocking a chynock because u know less then nothing about parents.

    2. Yes. I can back up my statetment. I can only back it up for those parents who are willing to accept in writing that in the event they fint get into their school of choice ,then they will go to any school where there is room and acceots them. Once a parent signs such a letter ,there will be people who will guarantee their child will have a school in Lakewood.

  3. You write "and what was said specifically about yeshivaleit", I listened to the speech twice, and I never heard him mention yeshivaleit. Why do you keep insinuating that he was attacking bnei toirah and yeshivaleit? Even if he did, are they above reproach? Is anyone above reproach? Wasn't Mussar a huge part of the yeshivishe Velt once upon a time? Do you think that the alter of Slabodka would've been upset by this speech? How about the Alter of Novarodok? What happened to being Machnia ones self to criticism?
I have a dream, that one day the Frumme Velt will be able to except criticism and change accordingly.

    1. You must be on the payroll to troll and try to cover up for what was said publicly. Perhaps you should listen to the speech and hear what was said. Harav Uren Reich heard exactly what was said so did the thousand of bnei Torah who heard it. If you need a bigger proof look at the hate articles against Lakewood that came as a result. The haters heard it too.

    3. Thank you anonymous at 6:32am.

I have been saying the same thing as you have for 2 weeks now.

Unfortunately some people have responded to my points exactly word for word as anonymous 6:52am with the same nonsense.

No, it is not true: 1000 of benei Torah were not offended. Nisht Emes.

I used to be more diplomatic, but Lo aleinu it's not working so here it is.

Hey 6:52am. If you felt slighted, then it must mean that you got to look in the mirror and say: "I am an elitist"
Yes, say it. It will be good for you.
Come out of your elitist closet and say it loud and clear.
Rechnitz speech hurt you because you are an Elit***
      The problem is you!!!
      Not Reb SY Rechnitz.

The speech hurt because it came From a oisher that is not an elitist.

Oh, and by the way, did you ever hear the YouTube clip from Hagaon Rav Shteinman who said in essence the same thing as RSYR. Gaava gaava gaava.
      Elitist elitist elitist. Same thing.

Don't give me the hate articles. That is not nogeyah. At all. It's not a raayah. Who cares what someone else wrote? Those hate people missed the boat as well.

They are elitist too. In their own way. It's very easy for them to knock Lakewood because they don't want to look at their own shortcomings. But that should not detract from The speech.

PS. I know many benei Yeshiva that are still on high from SYR speech.

      As 6:32am said so eloquently:
"Why do you keep insinuating that he was attacking bnei toirah and yeshivaleit? Even if he did, are they above reproach? Is anyone above reproach? ....,What happened to being Machnia ones self to criticism?
And I would add: Please listen to our zikney hador Moreinu Harav Aron Yehuda Leib Shteinman who has given the same mussar as SY.
Did Reb Ahron Leib also ch"v attach Yeshivaleit??
      No. He did not.
It's high time someone said it like it is b'fnei kol am v'eida.
And imho that is why the speech is still making waves.
My tefillah is that the waves help.
      Not ch'v hinder.

    5. You are totally false abot R Shteinman speech. He does not believe that every child has the right to go to every Mosad. He believes that schools have the right to determine if a student is appropriate for that school. I know that for a fact.

  4. Regardless if what he actually said. The fact is that tens f thousands if sonei Torah and Sonei Lakewood have used his speech to bring proof that Lakewood and bnei Torah are a bunch of fakers and dont care about each other. That is a chilul Hashem of a huge magnitude. So inadvertently he caused a huge chilul Hashem. Even if that was not his intention ,a terrible thing came from his speech.

  5. What is even more shocking is the speech was said off a teleprompter meaning Reb Shlomo Chaim Kanarek or his workers probably saw the speech first before it was said and let it go. They have been silent since not a peep. Where do they stand on this?

  7. Do you think that the alter of Slabodka would've been upset by this speech? How about the Alter of Novarodok?

Abselutely NOT!!! they would have never!! when they got up publicly infront even a small crowd of bnei torah talmidei chachomim they would tzitur at what they would say and how to say any peice of mussar when they felt it was neccesary. kol shekain infront of over 1200 bnei tora and many talmidei chachomim!!! The gedolim would have spoke alot different even when they felt neccesary to talk they would have talked with neimus not with venukm!!!
Perhaps your problem starts at you think Rechnitz is equal to the alter of solobudke or nevardik....... please he's just a plain bala bus that made alot of money and that has a lot or a ton of zechusim that hashem alowwed him to be the helper of klal yisroel but that in no way gives him or anyoone for that matter the freedom of chilul kvod shomaim brabim!!! oy vavoy to the chilul hashem caused by this. Reb Aharon was moser nefesh to create a shtoltz in yidden that they are bnei torah and should feel choshev that they sit and learn. America in his days didnt value kollel. But he worked hard to change that....... and with one speech look what can happen......

  8. YES those that devote atleast 3 quarters of their day to limud hatorah are elletist...... parhaps thats what bothered RSY so badly amongst others that he had to knock them. He might have more money, more fame, and more friends so he is ellit in everything BUT one thing... The Bais Hamedrash!!! Thats one thing he doesn't have more than them..... He can't Bost devoting over 3 quarters of a day to learning Abaya and Rava!!! (and the ones that do dont bost but i dont but appreciate those that do so iu can bost for them) so now that he knocked that he came up on top in everything.. BUT what he didn't realize is that this is his downfall DON'T start with the Bnei Torah just support them!!! and give them chizzuk its hard enough what their doing. they need all the chizzuk they can get to continue in the bais medrash... Hashem is watching over them and they are holding up the world with their limud hatorah!!!!

    1. First of all if there are not enough high schools then stop blogging and get money from Rechnitz and open a school. Second of all, while its true that there is a big shortage of high school seats ,im willing to bet that if every 8th grade parent signed a letter that they are willing to send their daughters to any of the schools,if they cant get in to the school of their choice, that 99 per cent would be placed right away. All the people involved with placement agree with this. The Rosh Yeshivas agree with this. Yiu can ask them. You only dont agree because you are elitist and wont send your daughter to some of the schools because es past dir nisht.

He said that 50,000 people in Lakewood dont care about each other ,that 50,000 people in Lakewood have 5 new Ani Maamins that they say they are better and frummer than anybody else .50,000 people doesnt refer to a small number . It refers to the WHOLE town of Lakewood including all the Bnei Torah . I want to tell you a little secret . There are definitely a number of people in Lakewood with bad Midos . Maybe even a couple of thousand .Those couple of thousand make a lot of noise . But that is 3 or 4 per cent of the entire population . That still makes 96 to 97 per cent of the nice quiet eidele Bnei Torah and balabatim in Lakewood ,fine and choshuveh people . Im sure the percentage of people with bad Midos in Los Angeles is at least the same or maybe more . Imagine if I would go to LA and broadcast all over the world that 10,000 families in LA have new Ani Maamins and dont cut anybody slack and are elitist .

I asked around and there are a couple of the smaller newer high schools that usually have more space, have less siblings than the big schools and are therefore more accomodating as far as acceptances . I believe one of them is even being partially funded by Rechnitz. Just because you are too elite to want to send your kids there ,don't go around saying that they don't exist .I was told that they have the same top teachers and principals and similar curriculum and Hashkofas as any other high school in Lakewood so there is no excuse to say it doesn't fit my haskofah or that the teachers are no good .

    2. Actually both schools closed because the other schools quickly opened more classes to make sure that the new schools will fail. These high schools don't want competition!! We have to break this cartel

      Delete
    3. So you are just proving the point. There are parents who claim not to have a school while there is a school with a top principal and the best teachers who doesnt "attract" a class. Because these same parents say es past mir nisht. Well you know now that there is no new school in the plans for this coming. year. So if parents once again say I am not "attracted " to this school, there will be a lot of girls without a school. Besides, the other school which did "attract " 2 classes still had some room for many of the parents who claimed not to have a school and once again many of these parents said "es past mir nisht" . You are just reinforcing the point that the problem is caused by parents choice. Go ask the Rosh Yeshivas if this is true. They will confirm it.

      Delete
    4. Of course most parents would want a more established school then a new school, but when the new school has only 3 children in the class because right before the first day of school the other established schools conveniently found an extra 20 seats to make sure the new school failed, the established schools are at fault for the shortage. Sending to a class of 3 kids is not a school. The mosdos have to provide a seat for every child in lakewood especially if they a part if not all of the shortage problem. Granted a parent should try their hardest to get into the school that they feel will be best for their child, that's not elitism. That's how the world works. However if they are not successful in getting a slot, one week after the mosdos requires answers. All the left over children are given a slot in a school. There is no reason for such rishus of dragging parents and children until succos.

      Delete
    5. Nonsense. The applications start in January. The new classes are made 6 months later if their is a need. Why didnt these parents at least apply to these 2 schools in January. The new school had very few applicants ladt year. The reason is because these screaming parents are too elite even to bother applying. It Doesn't pas for them to even apply.

      Delete
    6. Right you really believe the big established schools were just chalishing to take those kids from the new school in September.

      Delete
    7. What about the other side of the coin. That a week after a parent finds out he was not accepted into the school of his choice, he should be required to apply to the schools where they are told, there might ne room. Most of these parents openly said they will not apply to certain schools even if it means keeping their kids out of school. This included an established school with hundreds of kids. Again because es past mir nisht. My child needs an elite school. Adk the Rosh yeshiva. He will tell you the truth. Thatt its about the parents not wanting to even apply becayse they m8ght get accepted and chv have to send their kids.

      Delete
    8. This past year all the kids that were out of school had applied to 4 schools per the vadd. No one took them. Why did it take the roshe mosdos until 2 months after school started to find them a slot? Rishus!! This should have been taken care of a week after every one responded to the schools.

  20. Leaders are people who have the power to convince the entire tzibur to pool their funds to make and support schools . By Chasidim we have that . The Rebbe raises millions of dollars to make sure that every child has a school ,and every parent can afford tuition .We have no leaders who can do that . Our leaders are limited to pleading with schools to take in problem children ,who need tons of money in help ,while at the same time not offering one dollar in financial help to the school . Our community sends millions to many worthy out of towm yeshivos and kollelim ,but not enough for our local mosdos . People have an attitude that unless they personally benefit from a school ,they wont give money . They wont give money just so their neighbors child should benefit . Of course there arfe many good yechidim that do give money ,but on a community wide level we are lacling in the funding . So our leaders whover they may be are powerless / Leadership is a 2 way street . No Chasidishe Rebbe could survive ,if all he did was to try to force his Mosdos to take kids ,without helpin them with the funding . But that is what happens here . Until we as acommunity realize that we have to devote most of our tzedokoh money to local mosdos ,we wont have solution .

As it is now there is no trust or respect for the vaad and rightfully so. There are no mechanchim or Rabbonim involved looking out for a child's best interest and educational needs. Why would anybody even apply to a private school run by Reshoim and staffed by Rishusdike lady principals, who charge huge tuitions to become rich, when they could send to a community school run by a nice fine person like yourself who will charge half the tuition and hire ehrliche ladies for principals, not the horrible ladies who are now in charge.

The saddest thing here is the Roshei Mosdos posting here that the parents really had a school to send their kids to.The truth is that the evil Vaad person in cahoots with corrupt Rosei Mosdos created a system where there is one "reject school" that they force all nebach (in their eyes)kids into for the purpose of perpetuating the elitist image. So you step on a few parents and kids every year to keep the business going. When the parents push back and say no you are not forcing my kid into the reject school the Vaad muschas comes along and says you see they had a school to go into. He never mentions that he would not send his own kid there. So we had nine girls out of high school for months while these wicked Rosie Mosdos along with the muschas Vaad played the tzibbur for fools.

But he said the parents do not listen to him and come crying to him to get them into particular schools even though they have other good schools available .
