A slap in the face to tzibbur

The Vaad was no where to be found when there was a referendum for upgrading HVAC systems at the public schools. It cost the tax payers plenty, yet the vaad ignored the referendum leaving the tzibur out of what went on. That vote passed and taxes went shooting up. Why now with fire elections did the vaad decide to get involved?? if they truly care about taxes why were they silent during the HVAC referendum? Are there personal interests at stake here? why were they silent by other previous elections that effect the tzibbur? even the busing issue they were seemingly on the fence until they saw the winds blowing against them.  Do they not care about the non stop hikes in property taxes? If they cared for the tzibur they would not have members on the vaad who get BOE money for their agency thereby tying their hands from negotiating and advocating on behalf of the tzibbur. Do they think they will have the trust of the tzibbur come next election when they showed their true colors by ignoring the needs of the tzibbur? They might have gotten away till now, but that game is up.

You are wrong. The game will continue like before. Maybe more.

  2. I am no vaad lover. But you love to write inciting headlines. The BOE was going to repair the buildings one way or the other. Either they paid it out of the budget or they bonded for it. The state was willing to give 40 per cent of the cost if they bonded at one time instead of spending the whole amount from the budget over a few years. So ,many people felt it was worth bonding to get the 40 per cent from the State. If not we would have paidtge whole 100 per cent but over a few years We cant control the state prevailing wage laws that blows up the costs. That is a fact of life under any government work. You can disagree about the wisdom of the bond issue ,but dtop yhe needless nasty posts for undeserved reasons. There are probably plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize the Vaad but this is not one of them.

    1. Stop spinning, the vaad ignored that vote as they ignored others. Taxes have gone through the roof under the vaad leadership. Rabbonim have gone off the record about the vaad. If the hvac referendum was a no brainer why didn't the vaad endorse it?

  4. Why cant someone make an anonymous mailing and/or robot call to let everyone know that the tzibur is once again being bamboozled by some yechidim/builders/ shakers who are looking out for for thier own interests. The young dedicated yungeliet are mostly the gullible ones who hsve no clue of what is going on because they dont have the intrests in politics . So they just vote based on the calld from the vadd etc. Some one has to let them no that thrre are bad people who are ruining it for everyone.

  6. Not one mention from the so called Lakewood media who are the heartbeat of the community. NO mention on the scoop about the fire elections, nothing in the Lakewood shopper or the voice. The powerful vaad can not get their ad in any local media what a surprise!
