What happens after the referendum

The way it looks the referendum will undoubtedly be voted down. What happens afterward is the big question. Here are a few scenarios which will play itself out. The monitors claim as of  February 23rd only mandated busing will be available everyone else will lose their busing privileges. For most children whose schools are located in industrial park the students will have busing since most of them are more than two miles. Hundreds of public school students living within walking distance will lose busing.
Most probably though, a lawyer will challenge the state in court which a judge will issue an injunction to temporarily continue the courtesy busing. There are grounds to  constitutionally fight the state's overreach here. A monitor can not override a democratically elected board. If other nearby towns have an elected board than the Govt can not take that right away from us.

  1. Help me understand something. We have a huge issue here that will affect thousands of the townspeople. Where are our elected officials? Why aren't they on the forefront fighting this?? Where is our mayor??? Oh, he is busy lowering flags for a police officer killed 5 years ago. Mr Miller- do something for the people that elected you!!!!

    1. The township committee has no control over the BOE there is nothing the mayor can do.

    2. So actually, while the BOE is an independently elected body the law is that it's the responsibility of the township committee to ensure that children be able to get to school safely. There is absolutely no excuse or reason for the township committee not to get involved and figure out what to do.
