It was a threat and BH  Hamodia reports state officials said they will not appoint a monitor at the east  Ramapo School board. While Lakewood is under a state monitor perhaps the askanim can now help  here. Read HERE

  1. Major difference. In nj there is a law that if a school district had a deficit and there is automatically appointed a state monitor. We in Lakewood have a deficit because uner state law there is a 2 per cent cap on annual increases and our special ed tuitions and transportation costs and other costs associated with our growth are increasing more than the cap. And the state funding formula is flawed and doesnt give us enough state aid. So the monitor is an automatic appointment because of the deficit. In Ramapo the monitor was considered because of political issues that the public school parents claimed the Jews were not taking care of them and mismanaging the district. That is political and therefore political clout helps. It is not like here where the monitor is automatically called for under state law. On the contrary they need the legislature to vote on appointing a monitor ad a special exception and the political clout can stop that. Our monitor in lakewood did not need any, legislation to appoint him. He was appointed by the state dep of education under current law that requires that just like in other districts that have deficits. Major difference. So dont hock on the Agudah or other askanim as they have no pull to stop it here
