Lakewood schools help solve the shidduch crisis

Lakewood schools are planing to help solve the shidduch crisis at a real young age. Statisticians point out to the age differential of when boys and girls start the parsha of shidduchim as the main culprit. The  solution to this is to  narrow the age gap thus leveling the numbers between  boys to girls by having them marry closer in age of each other. A long term solution to change the status quo is to have girls start kindergarten at a year older than when the boys start which is exactly what schools in Lakewood are planing for this coming year. At the recent Torah Umesorah presidents conference it was mentioned that Orchos Chaim boys school will have boys entering at a younger age by extending the cut off date for Primary and Bais Rivkah Rochel and other girls schools moved the cutoff date back to November which translates to girls starting primary later than the boys. There maybe or may not be other contributing factors for the crisis, time will tell how this plays itself out.

  1. Is this satire or real?

Serious as the Shiduch crises is I don't think we should create new ones to deal with it.

  3. Some kids are ready to start school earlier than others. When my kids went to school the cut off date was Mar. 31 and even my youngest who was turning 5 in Mar. did well. If kids start school when they are older they will have gone to more years of pre-school costing their parents more years of tuition and will be bored by the time they get to first grade. I thinkk this idea is ridiculous. Push back the date to what it used to be and decide if a child is old enough or mature enough to start school by testing him or her. Some kids are ready at 4 1/2 and some at 5 1/2.

  4. I watched the video of the speech its funny how daas torah is used to fit ones agenda but ignored when it opposes what one believes in. The speaker gave a pass for the freezer since daas torah said to keep it but than lamented the fact that other yeshivos in EY and the US were against having bochurim return to lkwd at the age of 23. Why is the daas torah of those yeshivos not counted?? Is lkwd the only daas torah?

  5. It will only make things worse. Girls will not have time to get a job and make some money they will be rushed into it.
