Township committee did not handle blue claws contract

At the recent Township committee meeting,  a resident asked about the renegotiation of the blue claws stadium deal  if it have to be signed by the township committee for final approval As to the Blueclaws Stadium agreement . The response from Committeeman Lichtenstein was, (per the minutes of the meeting) "As to the Blueclaws Stadium agreement, the Township did not handle the new contract,
as the stadium has been conveyed to the Industrial Commission." The question is why? why would the stadium deal be transferred to the LIC why cant the committee sign or negotiate a better deal.

  1. For those that know anything about govermental functioning, these business prospects are not in the hands of the committee members, rather the LIC. its easy to bash when you have no knowledge.

    1. You obviously know nothing about government functioning. The blueclaws stadium came through uez funds voted on by the township committee. It was moved to the lic so the negotiations will be done privately in a backroom deal with no public knowledge. From what I've heard the attorney invalidated the committee from voting on it because they received tickets to the games making it a conflict of interest. The LIC is looks like a backhanded way to spend tax monies.

    2. It all starts from the top the committee a points the members to these boards. It's a disgrace that they blame the lic as if they knew nothing about the blue claws deal.

    4. Steven, can you explain how a coulple of guys who were not elected have power to sign a 50 year lease! FIFTY YEARS for only 175k a year on a franchise that netted 13 million last year? there is no attempt on record to even negotiate a higher rate. this is a stadium that should have been at least one million dollars a year rent. Some of these members may not even live in Lakewood township.

  2. Why did they omit the response to the crystal lake reserve. It's missing from the minutes of the meeting. Can we get the audio.

  3. ML stepped away for the reading of two ordinances on advice of counsel. Any reason why he did that?

  4. It was known that a certain committee member was going to demand millions from the Claws when they asked to renegotiate their contract. Steven Secare wrongly insisted that the committee has a conflict because they receive free tickets. An absolutely ridiculous assumption. All municipalities receive an amount of free tickets. It is in the contract. And besides they were demanding more money. So where was the conflict? The LIC did as they were told. It consists of a group of yes men placed there to do as the bidding of those that receive benefits from the Blue Claws. There needs to be a federal investigation of Joe Finley and American Baseball. Bob Singer made sure that the stadium is tax free, even though every other industrial owned property is not. Because the lease states that the Blue claws must pay the taxes. We could be receiving over 600 thousand dollars a year in taxes alone.
We have lost millions of dollars that could have been used to beautify our town, create businesses, and recreation That benefits US! THE TAXPAYERS. REMEMBER US? Menashe sold us down the river with his buddy Bob Singer. I am sorry if I sound like a rabble rouser but it took me 20 years of watching all this corruption, before I opened my mouth. Now 6 years later I cannot believe how brazen the Same corrupt people are. Imagine, a public official openly putting two apartments in the basement of his home. One legal one illegal. Why should anyone keep any laws in Lakewood.
    Disclosure:
I am adding a small room onto my house. I am proud to say I will not call the inspection department. If the. Bais Horaah could do whatever they want. If a 4 time mayor could do whatever he wants. Why should I be any different. Why should any of us.
    Let the games begin.
