Chutzpa! Tax rate rises again to 2.835

Lakewood residents received their tax bill for 2015/2016 and surprise surprise, property taxes went up again to a rate of  2.835 from 2.689. This is even before the reassessment is done which will have many properties appraised at higher inflated home values. You can not trust the politicians that they will lower the tax rate after the reassessment. Residents are angry and frustrated they can not afford to live like this. Where is all the money going?? Time to vote out the politicians and boards that are responsible for this.

  1. You can't just blame "politicians" for a tax increase that has several independent components.

Breaking it down, the increases for the 3 important components were as follows (approximately):

    School board: 7.5%
    Township: 0%
    County: 10%

    1. Are you kidding?? how much waste and corruption goes on in just the municipal portion. The DPW is the first place to look, how about the millions of tax dollars the township will have to pay back for the parcels that belonged to a private person.
