Aseres yemei teshuva, some girls still not in school

Its almost sukkos and there are still girls waiting at home to be accepted into high school. Meetings have taken place but so far there are no results. Askanim hoped to push all girls to a new school but apparently the plan did not pan out. Not every girl belongs there. Some girls can only go to a specific school that caters to their needs. Lets hope by Yom Kippur the vaad can proudly pat themselves on the back for making sure each girl is in school.

  1. Anyone know what happened at the meeting?

  2. If as you say every girl has the right to demand and determine which school caters best to their needs and to have the right to get accepted to such school , then we need several more high schools because you cant expect every school to just fill up classes without limit ti their size. Then the tzibbur or the bloggers need to raise the money and open a few more schools so everybody should be able yo choose which school they want

    1. We need more schools but it wont solve any the problem. As long as there is no trust between the vaad and roshei hamosdos nothing will change. There should also be mechanchim on the vaad who will look out for the best interest of the girls. Not askanim who just want to get the problem off their hands. The Roshei mosdos too should have no influence or involvement in the vaad or committee to place the girls. There is enough room in the existing schools for this year. But no wants to take the shear yerakos as they are called. So the games continue to be played with mosdos claiming they are full while in truth they have empty slots saved for when they need to fill it. The only ones loosing out are the kids.

  3. You keep avoiding the issue. There are a large number of kids who for various reasons dont fit into any of the high schools. By boys there are dozens of high schools cateting to every different type of bochur. Thi us because Yungeleit want to make Mesivtas and Gvurim want to give money for Torah. So any bochur even if he is modern and needs space or has issues in learning or frumkeit has a mesivta to go to that caters to his needs. There are no such high schools in Lakewood for girls because there is no harbotzas Hatorah to give a yungerman a reason to open such a school. It is also very expensive to hire the principals and and teachers and the gvirim who give for mesivtas dont give for girls. To try to push a more open minded girl into a high pressure frum school is a recipe for disaster.

  5. One school has 20 less kids in the 9th grade than last year its down from 180 to 160

  6. how many paralel classes do they have ? If they had 180 last year they must have had 6 or 7 parallel . Anything less than that is insane for a class size .No wonder we have so many kids at risk if we are stuffing 35 kids into a class .

  7. There is no school that has 6 or 7 parallel classes. The biggest has 5 and lat year i heard they had 185 kids or about 38 per class. It was impossible for the teachers to teach so many do this year they went down to about 165 or so or about 34 per class which is still a crazy high number. So whoever says they have room and are playing games is not being honest

  8. There are people who spend their time criticizing others. Nothing anybody else does is ever good enough for them. You will never find them doing anything positive like opening up schools or mosdos.
